Secondary Effects of Anorexia

by redbud72, Oct 14, 2009 12:59AM
Hi all. I was dx'ed with Anorexia this year. At first I thought it was ludicrous cos anorexics purge themselves, right? Well, I schooled myself in the matter some and came to the conclusion that I have a stress-induced form. Example, I get stressed (frequently) and the first thing to go is eating. It happens just like that and seems totally natural (to me). At least I've identified that.

Since this has been a long ordeal for me (at least 2 or 3 years), I believe it has taken some tolls on my health. I mean, the loss of body fat was obvious. Weakened muscles from my body going cannibal on itself, maybe? Some things I need help putting a finger on are:
Tendons seem tight/weak overall
Balance/gait issues (wobbly)
And probably more. I'm just wondering cos I can only manage to attribute these things to anorexia's overall weakening effect on my body. I guess I'm looking for confirmation that it is the the culprit.
I also am prone to "muscle twitches" all over. I would love to hear from some that have been here or know.
Thanks,
redbud

actually purging is closer linked to bulimia. And yes all those things you described can be a result of your eating disorder.
