Starvation and immune response
I work as a support working in an eating disorders hospital. My supervisory nurse told me that if a person is starving they are LESS likely to suffer from infections as the body will burn infected tissue/areas as fuel. This sounds like nonsense to me.  Is it true? I thought that if a person is starving then their immune system will be compromised, not boosted.

well, i don't know the science, but i've suffered with anorexia/bulimia for over 5 and half years, and i get every infection going. I've had a continuous cold with severe bouts of flu and even mumps (though immunised) over a peroid of a few years.
