Will my metabolism return to normal

by lovellamas, Aug 13, 2009 04:39AM
Following a recent conversation with my parents, I realised I had to change what I was doing- for the past 2-3 years I had been starving myself, taking diet pills, sometimes laxatives, exercising lots (like running every day etc) and it got to the point where I realised it couldn't go on. I've been keeping a diary from the lowest point so that every time I'm tempted not to eat or exercise madly I don't give up and go back. I weigh about 115 pounds and am about 5ft7. I've gone from eating between 100 and 700 calories a day to eating about 2000 I imagine (the only way I can think of to eat normally is to copy other people roughly at mealtimes), for about 4 days now. I accept that that's going to cause me to gain weight, but at the moment it all seems to be my stomach. I was wondering a) will it balence out and will I lose the pot belly  and b) will my metabolism recover and how long might it take?
Oh, and I'm not really teen... I'm 18, but it was the most fitting topic.
