Zoloft/Meridia

In the past I took Meridia to lose weight and it worked great but I had to go off Zoloft also and that is where the problem started. Never mind my that my husband was ready for a divorce but I couldn't even stand my self I was so emotionally down, and was so full of rage I was ready to blow any second. So the doctor put me on Wellbutrin, the maxium dose. That didn't work so I ended up quiting Meridia and going back on Zolft.  I crave food mostly sweet stuff and eat when I am not hungry.I had lost 35 pounds. Well as I sit here today I have gained 30 pounds since Christmas. I am back up to 230 pounds. Is there anything else I can use  instead of Zoloft but the same effects as Zolft. Meridia really helped me. Please help.

Hi, I feel for ya.  I haven't gained any weight  with Zoloft, I have been on it for a couple months at a very low dose 25mg.  But I know a couple of women, my sister especially who has gained 50-60 pounds since she started 3 years ago.  She looks like a different person and it really makes me sad.

Why are you on Zoloft, for anxiety - depression?  There are tons of meds and I was wondering what else besides Wellbutrin that you may have tried.  They don't all  give you an appetite, I would experiment - I know it's a hassel but gaining allot of weight can really bring ya down - especially emotionally.  You could try Paxil, Celexa there is lots of options.  I grew up with 12 women and all of us have anxiety and panic attacks and are on Meds, so I have seen allot of the side effects from SSRI's and many people say Zoloft  can give you a major Sweet Tooth!

If you lost the weight once you absolutely can do it again, right..... try a new med.  I hope things get better for ya - take care, Erin
