belly bloat and laxatives

after i eat my belly becomes bloated below my belly button, where my intestines are. i try to take gas medicine but it doesn't help much. ive become obsessed with this, as i am a thin, toned girl but i HATE the fact that i become bloated.

if it gets bad enough or ive eaten a lot the night before and i know it'll happen once it's digested, i take a laxative. i take phillips milk of magnesia, as it's not harsh or a stimulant. i only take a laxative maybe once a week. othertimes i drink 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day as that will sometimes make me go to the bathroom. after everything in my intestines is gone, my stomach is flat like i want it to be.

is taking laxatives once a week mean an eating disorder? i know people tell me i see things in the mirror that arent there. but i can't help it. it depresses me and my mind is consumed with whether or not i am bloated. i had a baby 5 months ago and i think that contributes the my self consciousness. but i am lucky to have my body back. i know that. i just think if i would stop being bloated i'd be happy.

i think i might be on the verge of an eating disorder but not actually have one. i dont eat during the day, but i always eat a lot at night. and then if its too much i take a laxative the next day. or drink a lot of coffee.

would prescription meds given to me by a doctor solve the problem of me being bloated?

I agree with you that you might be on the verge of an eating disorder. You seem very focused in on your stomach and how much you eat and on taking laxatives. Your doctor would only prescribe you meds for bloating if there were a physiological reason for it. Feeling full is normal, but feeling overfull might be due to overeating or eating very heavy things or having a problem with gas. But, most likely you are just hyper-aware of your tummy after you eat which is one of the symptoms of an eating disorder. If these feelings continue and you can't ignore them you might get a referral to talk with someone experienced with eating disorders. Taking laxatives is addictive, both physically and emotionally and is bad for your body. Eating disorders tend to get worse if not dealt with unfortunately.
