damaged hypothalasmus/piuitary tumor sugery

i am a 35yr old woman ,i had piuitary sugery almost 2yrs ago,for a pituitary stalk tumor.i gained 15pnds before sugery.i had a crainotmy and during sugery my hypothalamus was damaged.my tumor is all gone but ive gained 14 more pnds after.i have tryed to lose weight .ill lose 5pnds and gain back in a couple days.i have diabetes insipidus due to the damaged hypothalamus.my question is ive read damage to hypothalas leads to obeseity is that true.i eat the same as i did before tumor.will i be able to lose weight?gaining this weight has made me angery &very stressed scared im going to get obese.before sugery 130  now 159.allways fear of getting fatter.

I cannot answer all of the fiscal questions you'll have to ask your neurosurgeon.  My guess is that if you lose 5 pounds and then regain it quickly it is because of water retention rather than gaining real weight.  If that is true that it is the management of your diabetes insipidus that will help you the most in terms of controlling your weight.  I would be encouraged if I were you by the fact that you can lose 5 pounds, which means that you probably have not had damage in the appetite control part of the hypothalamus.  Watch out for emotional eating.  One binge can make a lot of difference.
