what are my changes of conceiving, will hormone therapy help?

i am 27 and have suffered with anorexia for eight years, i have been at a stable weight now for over a year, my bmi now stands at around 18 and is calculated every month by my nurse. i desperately want to get pregnant but havn't had a natural period for over six years, i have recently come off my contraceptive pill, purely to find out if my body would kick start itself with no chemical influence, but no luck. what do i do now? could i ever carry a child? and will i ever have a period again? i know and have known many other anorexics but know of only one woman who has successfully conceived and carried a baby full term, please help.

Maybe for now a higher BMI seems scary, but my guess is that if you get above 19 your periods are going to come around again.

It isn't a given that you've ruined your reproductive system, but below BMI 19, your body runs short of hormones.

Periods means greater chances of pregnancy, logically. My BMI was 19.5 when I succeeded in getting pregnant. Having a child was my way out of eating disorders. It's all about breaking the anxiety and learning to trust ourselves with healthy meals ;-)

Good luck!
