Remeron, biPAP, and dry mouth

by RMClarke, Apr 25, 2009 06:49PM
When sleeping with the biPAP at night after I have taken Remeron (30 mg, sometimes 15 mg) and Klonopin (1/2 mg),  I often start breathing through my mouth and it becomes extremely dry.  My tounge and lips get like dry leather and it wakes me up, disrupting my sleep patern.  I have to sip/swallow some water and then try to get back to sleep again.  This may happen 3-4 times per night.  I try to focus on sleeping on my sides and not on my back.

When I sleep during the day with the biPAP (10 hours or more have passsed since I last took Remeron), I do not have the problem.  I am thinking that Remeron is the dry mouth problem.  I have not been able to tolerate the SSRI's to date for anxiety and depression as a subsstituste for Remeron.  Any comments or ideas on what else I may try?

You might consider splitting the dose of remeron so you take some in the morning if that does not make you too sleepy.
