5cm endometrioma = endometriosis?

Hi all,

Do those with endometriomas (chocolate cysts?) always have endometriosis too? If so, are the endometriomas associated with a certain STAGE of endometriosis? I've heard that you don't usually get these cysts until a later stage...

Formation of endometriomas does indicate an advanced stage of endometriosis and is likely to be associated with endometriosis at other places in the abdomens and pelvis. Surgical removal of these endometriomas will help relieve symptoms like pain and also restore fertility.
