Clots, very long period?

I've had a period for almost 3 weeks. I'm on continuous birth control and usually have to take a break to give myself a period. I had an intentional period about 5 weeks ago. Then about 3 weeks ago I had some really bad pain and discovered I had started again. I've had a few days without bleeding. About 2 days ago, I had a terrible popping in my lower abdomen and went to the rest room. A huge clot. Since then I've had some cramping and a lot of large dark clots. Anyone else experienced anything like this!?

No problem. I know the tissue that you are talking about its the endometrial lining it looks like blood clots and paper put together.

It is because you came off for a longer time then just the breakthrough bleed.

Trust me when I say this. Go on it continuously and don't come off until breakthrough comes naturally then only come off it for a couple of days max 3 in my opinion and go back on. I was on it for 8 yrs and that is how I did it and how I was able to keep the pain away as well as mentally it helped me with my hormones to be elevated.

Ya that is normal :)

However you don't have to give yourself a bleed unless you are spotting. There are times that I didn't have breakthrough for 2 yrs. trust me it's normal. Best thing to do is don't break unless you have breakthrough even then I would sometimes double up a couple of days and when the spotting stopped I would go back to one pill but if it was persistent I would come off for 2-3 days and go back on.

I have to take a break from my BC to 'give' myself a period every 2-3 months. The clots are anywhere from pinkie nail to between a quarter and half dollar size. I noticed last night that they aren't all bloody. There are some that just loom like... Tissue?

when you said you had an intentional period what does that mean? Did you come off it for a couple of months?

When you say huge clot, how huge? Clots are associated with Endo and Adenomyosis. Also dark blood is called old blood so you could have had a cyst burst.

I have been diagnosed. The original surgeon said that while the sample sent to the lab didn't contain endo tissue, he felt sure that's what it was. I'm not sure what stage I am, and while I do have a gynecologist, she isn't comfortable even doing another lap due to my age and lack of children. If the continuous BC doesn't work out for me, my next step is menopause. It seems the BC route isn't working but I'm hesitant to start medically induced menopause. My dr has said that if it comes down to any surgery she will have to send me to a reproductive endocrinologist.

Hi There-

Yes I experience this every month.  Even when I take continuos doses of progesterone I still experience it.  I have Stage 4 endo.  I just doubled my dose of progesterone in hopes to stop the bleeding before my second excision surgery this summer.  Have you been diagnosed with endo?  Are you under the care of a qualified endo surgeon?
