Could I have endo??

Could I have endo??

Here is a little  hsitory:  I am almost 26. Been TTC for 4 years on our own, and 2 years with the doctors. August 2006, I was DX with PCOS, was then put on metformin and found out in October 2006 I was pregnant, MC within 6 days of finding out and haven't gotten pregnant since.  I've lost almost 50 lbs, since then. Before I was DX with PCOS, I would have horrible periods, lasting 2 - 3 weeks and only once every 3 - 4 months. I would cramp horribly....even after intercourse. Right now my periods are pretty normal because of the metformin, I still have some periods that are pretty crampy, and the only way to help it is with a heating pad, or just pressure to my stomach. I have never had a lap done, I had asked my dr and she said that there is no signs that I could have endo! I hear that it is pretty hereditary, right? Well my mom, my aunt. cousin, sister and niece have all been DX with it. Wouldn't you think that would throw up a red flag that I could have it? I am changing drs, my 1st appt is August 19th, so we will see what this one says. I have had a few tests done like HSG to check my tubes and they were clear, and DH had a sperm test done and everything was fine there....so if anyone has any advice for me I would really appreciate it.

Demand a lap! :-) Ultrasounds are **** at diagnosing endo and it can't really be detected by any other method than going in and taking a look. The only sign I had of endo was painful menses. My mother, sister, aunt and cousin all have endo, and there have been many studies linking genetics to endo. It's worth a shot. Good luck with your new doctor :-)

Depends how much (or if they) find any endo. I had what my doctor called "a medium amount" of endo removed, and I also had some surgery on my bladder and I was down for three-four days. It's different for everyone. I did take a week off work just in case. It's an outpatient procedure so you'll be in and out of the hospital fairly quickly. I hope you feel better :-)

I was recently Dx with endo and the main symptoms I had was infertility and constant pain on my right side that went down my leg.  I had a lap done and a lap is the only way to DX and treat endo...ultrasounds can not detect endo unless it is a very very serious case.  Nobody in my family has ever ben DX with endo, but my mom and aunt both has hysterectomies in the early 30's...I don't think they checked for endo as often back them although they probally had it? I went to work 4 days after my lap, but it took my stitches 2 weeks to totally dissolve.  I still have some soreness and my surgery was on July 25th.

I would say you have ALL the signs of ENdo and your doctor doesnt know what the hell they are talking about.  Endo is one of the three leading causes of infertility!!!  What have you been trying to get pregnant so far?  Have your doctors discussed IVF or are you not there yet?  I would suggest a laporoscopy right away, as it is the only thing to definitely dx endo, and then take it from there.  I had endo stage 3, moderate lesions on my left ovary, and uterus walls.  Even though my doctor removed the endo, it grows back within the first year by 20%.  Even birth control pills only supress it temporarily.  Getting pregnant is the only option I want right now, becuase I do not want to keep taking hormones......

Thank you ladies for all of your advice. I will talk to my new Dr, on Tuesday. IVF really isn't an option for us right now, because my insurance doesn't cover ANY fertility treatments.  Thanks again.
