Cramping Post Intercourse

Hi,

Im 27 and 18 months ago had a laparoscopy (due to increasing menstrual pain which increased to a point of 24 hour agony not during my menstruation) which found quite extensive endometriosis. I have been mostly pain free since then, and have been continually on the pill (without a monthly break).

However, I have started experience quite severe menstrual-like cramps after intercourse. It lasts around 30 minutes.

I am worried, because i held off the surgery decision for months and months last time and looking back, fear that during that time is when the rapid growth actually was occurring.

I am worried about it reoccurring and me being too late.

Is this pain post inter course and indication that the endometriosis has grown back?

I am so frustrated that there are no answers with endometriosis and no way of knowing whether it has come back, besides a hideous laparoscopy! I feel like booking yet another appointment with a doctor is pointless!

Hi there Sydney82

I have much the same issue, my cramping and pain can last all night and I get what feels like brusing on the bottom half of my stomach.

I'm in agreeance with Lulu, you'll only know through another surgery (I know this isnt what you want to do right now) - but I guess if you do it and it stops it getting worse then its worth it? I know it's only 'for now'...the biggest salt to wounds for me was when I was told there was no cure, only management.. "if there was a cure then there would be a lot of happy women around the world, but there isnt, not one cure for everyone". Kind of killed my spirit!

I know how you feel in regards to doctors, sometimes I feel like they're doing more harm than good! It is your call, only you know essesntially what is right for you!
I agree with Lulu, its frustating knowing there's no way to stop this and it causes SO much pain!

I had my laop + lasering this year, I feel its only made me worse, Im in agony every day - and so I've called the professor, I need help!

With this I've learnt, you're your own advocate for help, do what you think is best for you!
I wish you all the luck *hugs*

You are right, unfortunately you won't know for sure without having surgery. It does continue to grow, but if you are taking the pill it is supposed to stop the growth. If you already have growths, that could be causing the pain. I was diagnosed with Endo in September with Lap & I continue to have pain. I just started taking BCP, but it's almost too late because I know it has already grown back. If you are having pain during intercourse, it's possible that the endo is causing the pain. It's very frustrating because there is no way to stop it completely. It's really your call what you do at this point, but continue to work with your dr on options that are best for you. I hope that your pain gets better soon! Good Luck!
