Does the surgery for endometriosis leave scars?

I am a 25 year old female living with very painful endometriosis. My doctor will probably end up doing surgery; as hormones/pills are not an option. I had an adenoma (non-cancerous tumor) burst from birth control in the past. However, since that surgery my outlook on life has seriously changed. It changed who I am. My confidence is down in the dumps, and I have a scar that goes across my abdomen from my breasts to my hip. The last thing I need is another scar.

Dear csatt...

So sorry about your surgery, i can und how it must feel. I had an endometric cyst removed last year through laparascopic surgery.
Just as PrincessJam said, I have 3 scars one on my belly button that isnt so visible, and two other on either side (below) of the belly button that are visible but not that big, overall it doesnt look bad at all, not to worry.

One thing, my dr put me on Depo Provera injections after the surgery ( one shot a month for three months)- PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT!!!! All the problems I have now like liver issues, skin issues, irregular periods, anovulation are ALL because of those shots. Believe there are other meds to stop endo cysts from re-occuring, not sure of the names but you be sure not to take this one!!! Even if dr talks of just one shot DO NOT go for it...

Good luck :)

Yes Princessjam,

I'm with you.  I had laproscopic surgery and I have the same tiny scars.  Nothing to worry about, csatt.

The scar from having a laparoscopy is tiny.  I had 3 incisions.  One in my belly button that you can't see, and two way down underneath my underwear line that have healed.  I'm so sorry to hear about your other scars.  If you are afraid, don't be!! You will have small scars for sure :)

Anybody else with me here?
