Endo pain

by SarBear8137, Dec 30, 2008 11:37PM
Hi. I have been diagnosed with endo for about 2 years, and had a lap done to remove lesions. I am having a problem controlling pain. I am waiting until I graduate college (this may) so my hub and I can have a baby before I consider any more drastic treatments.

My problem comes b/c the docs do not want to give me any thing for pain. They tell me to take Aleve. I am sure all of you ladies know that does not really work. I am getting very frustrated, I need something to take the pain away so I can function like a somewhat normal person. But they act like the pain is all in my head and I want the pills for drugs. LOL.

Any help?

you can take up to 800mg of ibprofen every 8hrs. If the pain is real bad go to the ER. They put me on perkaset, but it didnt work. On a scale of 1-10,  10 being the worst, what is your pain level?

I was in the same situation as you are in. I tried EVERYTHING to take the pain away...even drinking....lol
But the ONLY thing that got rid of it was a laproscopy (sorry for the spelling)

I now have 2 girls...1 1/2 and 1 yr. I am now getting the beginning of the endo pain and am VERY upset about it b/c i know the only thing that gets rid of it is the lap.

Good luck and hope you are feeling better.

Be very careful taking non-scrpt painkillers. I overdid them when I first began to suffer endo pain every day and didn't know that it was endo. I did severe damage to my stomach; would pass nothing but cups of blood and now can't take any amount of midol, alieve, pamprin. Doctors who provide a person under the age of 30 with pain pills get their name flagged and have to be investigated. Go to another doctor and another and another til you find one who is willing to give you proper treatment. I got treated the same way, cuz I'm 25, and I went to 5 docs before losing my insurance. None of them would give me pain pills though I am wheelchair bound and bedridden with pain in my abdomen. You need to find a doctor who believes you are worth an investigation an also I wouldn't trust anyone who is so concerned about having an eye on them. My mom has been a nurse for years and every doctor she's worked for has been shifty, so they never gave pain meds to anyone under 30. It's not that they are not good doctors, but maybe they are doing something illegal they don't want the board to know about. Like taking bribes from pharm companies is totally common and totally wrong. Good luck. Just be honest about what you want, explain your situation and take the meds as prescribed. I'd even tell the doctor that if you come back needing more pills way before you should they have every right to cut you off, but that they should at least give you a chance. It's so not fair that stupid addicts have made our lives a living hell. I wish you the best.

Love,
Diemyn

Forgot to tell you. I had a lap too. I specifically requested that the surgeon, my own gyn, not use laser ablation. i was assured she would use a scalpel as they are best for removing endo anyway. And the ****ing b**** used laser ablation after all. I was never in more pain than after that lap. There's nothing I can do about the verbal agreement she and I had. When the lap didn't cure me, but made my pain worse( i thot i knew pain before...sooo wrong) she treated me like dirt and refuse to see me in her office unless I was there to get a Lupron injection. Lupron, she said, would cure me. She said the same thing about the lap. Don't trust the docs just cuz they are docs. Do your own research. Changing my diet to organic, gluten free, dairy free, soy free, meat free is the only thing that has improved my conditon.

I was just wondering this too! I am in sooooo much pain. I have FM/CFS, and I think that my muscle relaxants they have me on make my pain worse!

I've heard of the flagging before, but if it's medically necessary, good docs shouldn't be so  against prescribing them.

The ER is a very expensive way of treating pain though.

I am in the process of trying out another doctor to see what they will prescribe. I've found that Tramadol works wonders for me, and is not like other narcotics. It is a narcotic like pain killer that is used for chronic pain. Not like percocet and such. Check it out!

I am in school to be a PA, and I am a true believer in asking. Someone who is just drug seeking usually doesn't come out and ask for a certain medicine. I would explain to your doctor, and suggest a certain type.

I also believe that just because a doctor is a doctor he/she is not always right. JUST ASK. You'd be amazed. Even say, can I try this out for a couple days, see how it goes, call you, or come back in.
