Hi there, I just wanted to say something which I found out after my partial hysterectomy last week.  For the past 9 months I was told my endometriosis was back as I explained before. During several apts. my husband asked my previous OB/GYN of 7 yrs if this could be related to the tubal ligation I had done & not the endo and he told us NO.  That it was not related the tubal ligation at all.  I had a procedure called Essure which is done at the dr.'s office instead of the hospital to tie my tubes, it was quick very little pain and no recovery time at all.  I had just had a baby 2 months before & thought this was the best considering having surgery to tie them. After the hysterectomy on the 5th, my new GYN told my husband she had not found any endo adhesions (she didn't think she would because I was on Lupron for past 4 months) and that possibly the majority of my pain was due to the tubal ligation.  The blockage formed after the Essure caused my tubes to become irritated & swollen, as time passed the irritation & swelling got worst and therefore my pain was worst and explains why my pain never went away.  My old GYN knew my symptoms were different this time and I told him they were different & he never listened.  I am not sure what procedure you had done w/your tubal ligation, and my problem doesn't necessary need to be yours.  But I came back to let you know what had happened to me because we never imagined my situation was because of the tubal ligation and it was. I hope you do get better & if your GYN does not listen please go to one that does like I did. I was told all this time it was my Endo that had come back & it could've been, however there was a bigger underlaying problem & if he would've preformed surgery back in June it would have saved me many months of agony, pain and time I lost with my family as a result of this.  Good luck!

Hi, I got my Endo back after my tubal ligation in 09.  I am undergoing treatment with Lupron which has not worked up to now, this is my second treatment.  I can't have any more surgeries to remove adhesions.  Speak to your doctor if you are having symptoms.  Take care.

Here are some interesting things to read that I have found online.

Q. Is it true that women who have their tubes tied are protected against endometriosis?
A. Theoretically, blockage of the tubes by tubal ligation or by any other cause (for instance, pelvic inflammatory disease) should protect against the further production of endometriosis. However, a recent investigation of women requesting tubal ligation reversal has not supported this concept. The prevalence rates for endometriosis were found to range from 2 percent through 12 percent in two studies. When an infertile population is studied, these rates range from 5 percent through 35 percent.

There is always a possibility when you have a proceedure, you can increase your risk of scar tissue build up.
