Endometrial cancer

I had stage 4 endo at age 33 and the doctor said I needed a full hysterectomy which removed ovaries, uterus and cervix. The doc said it was so bad that if I don't have the surgery when I menstruate I would cough blood if it moved to my lungs. I had the surgery and have been on the estradial patch for at least 5 years. I am on .1 and .5 patch every 4 days. I am now 40 and just went to a new doc and she was shocked I was on such a high dose. The previous doc did blood work and it showed I needed that much estrogen. Here is the scary part. She asked why I wasn't on progesterone and I said I didn't need it because I don't have a uterus. That is what every doctor told me in the past. Apparently there has been a new study that showed women without a uterus and who have had endo need progesterone too. The reason why is the endo that wasn't removed by the hysterectomy can thrive off of the estrogen and can become endometrial cancer. I'm scheduled to go see a obgyn in the next couple of weeks. Has anybody else heard about this? I thought I  was doing everything right. I have pain that feels like endo on my colon and when I told her that she said that is not good. I just chalked it up to scar tissue and possibly more endo but was not that worried until now. Anybody out there that can give me some feedback would be much appreciated. Also, if you are reading this and are among the women who don't have a uterus and are on estrogen therapy without the use of progeterone please talk to your doctor ASAP. Thank you.

I haven't heard of leftover endo turning to endometrial cancer. I do know that left over endo can make it's own estrogen and feed off of that. Did you see a specialist for your last surgery? If it's a new study, you might want to go ahead and get another opinion on all of this and see what they say. I would however probably schedule another lap if you feel the endo is back and especially affecting your bowels. If you have any questions feel free to ask and Good Luck - keep us posted!

I don't understand what is meant by "leftover endo" if you don't have a uterus or ovaries anymore.
