Im 25 years old and have always had painful periods, within the last year they have gotten worse and symptons of Endometriosis, i am booked in for a scan sometime this year (on the waiting list) as my G.P is certain I have it. Recently my g.p changed my contraceptive pill as I would menstruate then 2weeks later have another. I have been on this contraceptive for almosr 3months first month was fine now I am getting breakthrough bleeding again with severe abdominal and lower back pain but very light bleeding,is this normal?? also about 3years ago I had an Ectopic Pregnancy and the surgeons gad to remove my left ovary and tubes. if it turns out I have Endometriosis what is my chance of getting pregnant??
Thankyou so much for commenting.
whoops was meant to put im booked for a laproscopy not a scan! I had an ultrasound done 6months ago and like you said it showed nothing.
I have been on the pill for 9 years and always taken it continously. I take the sugar pills and get my period then its been 2weeks later i get it again. My g.p said its because my hormones are still balancing out. im not sure if this is right i just hate having to deal with the pain!
Yes i kind of guessed that but thought i would see if anyone knew what chances could be.
once again thankyou
What you should be doing if no one as told you is dont take the sugar pills open a new pack and continue. Once you start getting breakthrough bleeding come off it for a couple days and start taking it again. I was only getting 2-3 breakthroughs a year max. I have never heard of them telling people to take the sugar pills.
Maybe try doing it that way and see what happens? What pill are you on?
There is a new one out called Visanne that I am on now. Its not a birthcontrol pill but it looks like one and it is the same as Lupron but not with all the side effects. Before that I was taking Marvelon21
Yep I have been taking the sugar pills, to start with I wasn't then I ended up having a period non-stop for almost 3 months going to see my g.p regarding this he didn't say much about it so went to a different g.p I am now on to my 4th g.p and she has changed my contraceptive pill 3 times. I currently am on Brevinor which contains 1mg of Norethisterone and 35ug of Ethinyloestradiol (apparently this is the highest dose of hormones to stop breakthrough bleeding) I live in New Zealand so I've never heard of those pills you are on before.
After I have had the surgery my g.p has recommended an IUD called Mirena it's kind of newish here in N.Z and used for women who have heavy periods, breakthrough bleeding etc.
I know all symptoms for Endo are different for everybody but is it usual for when having bowel motions for it to be very painful especially when you have your period?
Im 27 and just went throught my first lap 6 months ago. No changes, still in extreme pain.my birth control has stopped working to stop my period. We are going to try to conceive.the doc said i have a better chance now they have removed a lot of the endo but it's in my nerves/spine. Good luck
Sorry to hear their was no changes in having surgery.
oh wow in your nerves that sounds terrible!!
Good Luck and all the best in conceiving. Let me know how you get on!
Thankyou very much I hope I dont gave to wait too much longer
The bowel pain is most likely endo on the bowel or a rectovaginal cyst . That is what I had. I would evacuate everything a day before my period then in severe pain and constipated until my period was gone. I would also get sharp rectal pain through our the month for no reason. I think you should see if they have visanne because I know it's new here but I a sure I read post from people in Australia that were taking it. I was supposed to take the mirena as well as it supposedly is the best for deep implants like I had but I ended up getting pid and I can't use it because of that.
I thought as much have been reading heaps on it. oh wow thats pretty much what i get or if i dont take codeine and become constipated i get diarrhoea.oh ok i will ask when i see my dr again. so im due to take my sugar pills in 3days to you recommend me not to take them and go straight onto a new pack??oh wow a pid would have been nasty, if you dont mind me asking what caused that?
Yes mine went undetected until I found a surgeon that specialized in this disease and within seconds he stuck his finger up there really deep and could feel it. All those years wasted on doctors telling me I was fine and just depressed, being told I had Fibromyalgia and IBS etc. I was so angry and I even knew the stage was IV because of all the pain I had been in for 15yrs.
I would highly recommend you do not take the sugar pills they are useless with this disease. Your body is to feel its pregnant at all times so that you dont ovualate. Its the only way to suppress the disease but seeing how they didnt tell you this from the beginning there is probably more damage done.
Your best bet is to find the best surgeon for this disease book a surgery to remove all endo and have a plan for afterwards even if its just staying on the pill continuously until you are ready to have a baby.
I really dont get why the doctor would tell you to take the sugar pills that is why I suggest another opinion for sure and someone who is very well versed in this disease.
Oh wow 15years is a hell of a long time to have to get diagnosed.
I remember being at highschool good 10years ago now and hearing about endo and thought maybe thats what i had but dr at the time said there was no way i would have endo at my age. Is it usual for it to become worse as you get older?
Thankyou so much for your advice I have gone straight onto a new pack of pills today. I have been getting cramps, not as bad as usual though but have taken some codeine before going to bed to be on the safe side. when you say more damafe done what do you mean??
By damage I mean the longer it takes for you to have a surgery to remove the endo the more damage the disease causes. I had 15yrs of damage causing the endo to go all over my intestines, bladder, ureters, tubes etc. Also I used to take advil a lot and I think I have liver damage because of it. After the birth of my daughter I can say without a doubt the endo grew like wild fire and that is when I really started to get new symptoms of Nausea every single day, reflux, migraines, etc.
Make sure you see a surgeon when you go that specializes in Endo and that uses the Excision technique not laser as the excision technique is 100% better and the chances of it growing back are a lot lower and if it does it will be at a slower rate. You have to to take the BCP after the surgery as well continuously or the endo will grow back. This is imperative for recovery.
