Endometriosis

I had a specialist appointment about 5 months ago, I was told I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2012!!!, I was never told this before spite being at the docs numerous times for tummy issues, the specialist said nothing they can do if pain continues to see GP. I seen GP today who said yes the pain I'm having and other symptoms, clotting, fatigue, bloating and mood swings to say a few are from this, I asked what he was going to do he just said well we will stop your bleeding (I have been bleeding heavy and around 2/3 weeks of the month for most of the last 2 years) and that will kill off the endometriosis and it will disappear, I've asked for a scan and he said it won't be picked up on a scan and only through lacrospary and he didn't want me to have that, I explained I've never had that procedure so how was it diagnosed he replied through ultrasound but that's because it was bad and could be seen in this way? What do I do I can't live like this anymore I'm so down from pain and my mood swings are ruining my marriage, I've looked at paying private for the lacrospary but it costs around £3400. What should the doctor be doing and is their any way I can get treatment, he also said today the endometriosis sounds like it's spread to my right ovarie. Thanks for any advice xx

No no no no no. No.
Leave this doctor. Seriously. He was wrong about so many things.
The only way endometriosis can be officially diagnosed is through laparoscopy. Period. An ultrasound only shows cysts that are there. Yeah, you can see if endometriomas are there, but the existence of endometriomas does not necessarily correlate with endometriosis! (I've had ultrasounds and a laparoscopy and know the difference. Seriously--get a new doctor.)
Second: STOPPING THE BLEEDING WILL NOT CURE ENDOMETRIOSIS. It will help you a lot, but it will do nothing to the growing tissue on the outsides of your organs. There is no definitive cure for endometriosis. Sure, there are options for treatment (laparoscopy; birth control to make it more manageable; Lupron/fake menopause, to hopefully minimize it a bit; etc), but these are not equated to cures.
Get. A. New. Doctor! I have endometriosis too and want the best for you! Find the right person to help you--it won't be perfect but this CAN get better! Praying for you! xoxo

(oh--and for the laparoscopy, look into debt forgiveness at your local hospital. Didn't I hear that endometriosis passed as a disability in the UK? I bet they'll take it seriously.)
