Had surgery and found out the worse

I had a laparscopy wednesday morning, came home wednesday afternoon. I wasnt worried about the surgery itself, but the recovery time. And how i would feel. I threw up a few times after i woke up, went home and slept it off. I am in alot of pain from the srugery, but i am msotly hurt from what i found out. I will be 18 next month and i just found out that i not only had endometriosis on my uterus and right ovary, but a fibroid on my uterus and pollyps in my uterus. The pain and constant bleeding started december 2007. And i have been to 6 OBGYN's and they all said i was too young to have endo. ANd they refused to do a lap. to find out anyways. Not only was fibroids and endo in my family from my mother and grandmother's side, but now i am being told i will have to be given a shot which will cause me to go into signs of early minopause and i may not be able to have my own kids. Please someone tell me there is still hope. Because right now i feel like my heart is broken and im afraid i may never be able to have my own children.

I think we are in a similar situation! I found out I had stage 4 endometriosis the month I turned 18, it was a massive shock and I was devestated.  At first I was really reluctant to take the zoladex injections but I eventually came round.   Although they do put you in a temporaray menopause, it is not forever!  I know a lot of people have side effects but I honestly haven't had any, has your doctor suggested it with add back livial hrt, cos thats what i take.  I have had 2 so far and am due for my third next wek. I would honestly recommend it, mine has been quite effective, but because of the 6 week gap i took between the lap and the first injection my endo started to come back, so it would be better if you could get is ASAP if you are going to start it.  Do not worry about fertility now too much, although my gynae has said i may encounter problems, he said far too many doctors are pessimistic about these things.  The zoladex will give your ovaries a chance to recover, and the best course of aciton after that is to go on the pill.  Although I have stage 4, and it sounds like your case is pretty bad too, that does not mean you will not be able to conceive! I was as upset as you until i found a dr who explained everything clearly! I have been told that after 6 months of the injections if i go on the pill for another 6 months with no break, and then before I want to start trying for children I will go on the zoladex again for 3 months and then the 6 months after that are the best time to try and conceive.

Manda...Wanted to share my story with you. I have endo & PCOS (refused lupron) I used BC pills for awhile to help w/the pain etc. Then I had 2 surgeries 2 years apart to laser it all out. I went to a fertility specialist for this....she told me I would only get pregnant if we did fertility treatments. (i wasn't trying at the time) Flash forward 1 1/2yrs I've met Mr. Right we are getting married and he was told as a child he would be sterile. Before our wedding we were pregnant. Stunned b/c we accepted the fact children weren't a possibility but HAPPY! So anything can happen is what I want you to know!

I also have a friend who had a basketball sized (no, i am not joking she was very overweight so you couldn't really tell) cyst on one of her ovaries...they removed I believe it was half of that ovary and she was pregnant within 2 years.

My personal feelings are God is who allows it to happen NOT the doctors.

If anyone can help you with this Dr. Kanayama in NYC can.  Google his name if his home page doesn't pop up then google endometriosis specialist.  He has completely changed my life.  He has worked miracles on so many woman and is the leading in this field.  

Good luck and I know you'll find the answers you're looking for.  Just take it one step at a time and DON'T give up.

Hey girl, don't worry your life isn't over :-) There are plenty of things to treat what you've got going on. I recently went on the Depo Shot, (regular depo, not depo lupron which makes you give you symptoms of menopause) and it's helped some of my pain and other symptoms. Prior to that I was on continuous use birth control where I didn't get a period at all (tried a few, Yasmin, Levlen, Nortrel- any kind is good, just depends which kind your body likes best!)
You don't need to get a Lupron or Zoladex shot if you don't want to. I would try suppressing your period with other forms of birth control first to see if that works. And as far as the children thing is concerned- there are plenty of women with endo that have conceived. (My mother and grandmother are two of them) My doctor never once told me I couldn't have children because of my endo, but did tell me it may be a bit harder to conceive than the average woman.  Don't let your doctor freak you out, in fact, I'd probably go to another one for a second opinion because sounds like he/she is putting you in fear (something doctors aren't supposed to do).  Please get a second opinion and don't feel forced to do something that there are many alternatives for. Hi. It's me again. Dont't worry! Doctors can somethimes make a big deal of something, but it's not always the way it seems to be! I had lap done when I was 19 years old and I lost my right ovary. But after that i was taking some medications (YASMIN) for two years. This medications are recomended, because they don't cause signs of early minopause! They kept my left ovary in condition without endometriosis. But, cystis grow rapidly in my case, so Yasmin was not able to stop them and I had a punction done several months ago and now I am on ZOLADEX treatment (injections, wich cause me to go into signs of early minopause). And, after i finish the 6-th (the last injection) i must conceive, if I want to have my own children and if I want to keep my left ovary, because it is the only one I have. Talk to your doctors about Yasmin, they helped me to stop the endometriosis at least for a while, and they gave me more time to organize my life, because endometriosis is my life and i learned how to live with it. And you find yourself a boyfriend and start a serious relationship :-), because if you want children of your own and if you don't want to bring your health into danger, you should concider the idea to be a young mother! The only cure (that works) that doctors know of is pregnancy, because while you are pregnant the hormons in your body are in perfect harmony, and the endometriosis is gone! Don't let this ruin your life! I know how you feel, because I had (at young age) and I am still having that problem. But, I am living with it and I am trying to solve it in many ways and while I am doing that, the time passes and now I am 22 and I am thinking about pregnancy... Talk to your doctors about Yasmin, to get a little time, so you can see what are you going to do next.
