Lupron

Hello All,

I am new to this forum but not new to this site or to Endo.  Although I beleive I have had endo for many years I have only recently been diagnosed and offered some form of hope/treatment.  The OBGYN want me to use the Lupron prior to having surgery and I am just not sure, from everything I have heard and read it is like a death scentance, like I am trading one huge issue for another, and now I know from working in medicine you can not beleive everything you read on the itnernet, so here I am looking for first hand accounts from other women who have used the treatment.  I am 35 soon to be 36, no children, I have done 6 rounds of clomid assisted IUI rounds however they never really figured out that I had endometriosis because my DH's counts were not great.  I also had months where I was annovulatory leading them to believe more that I had secondary infertility then anything else.  In 2008 I had a cyst removed that had hemmoraged into itself and the surgeon then stated he had seen some endo but said there was nothing he could do.  Being so long ago my current OBGYN want to see those reports before deciding to go back into surgery but thinks the Lupron can make me pain free.

I guess I just want to make sure it is worth the time, effort and money or should I just keep putting up with it, miss a few days of work every month as I do now and keep taking the narcotics (btw I hate the narcotics) because the alternative is just too nasty.  Any stories anyone can share with me would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Tracy

Hi there. I had surgery two years ago because I had a 6 cm cyst of unknown origin, and it turned out it was endometrioma and I had adhesions from endometriosis.  The doctor was able to remove the cyst without removing my ovary, and the I was given the 3-month Lupron shot.  I had done research on line about it and was scared, but decided to have it.

I had some side effects like hot flashes, a little headache in the evenings, tireness, insomnia, but nothing much that I couldn't manage.  These are menopausal symptoms and it helps your body stop ovulating avoiding the risk of getting endometriosis back.

For me, the surgery and the Lupron helped get rid of the endometriosis.  You have to remember that every body reacts differently. Talk to your doctor, search online and make your decesion.

Also, in this forum there a lot of ladies who have gone through so much and that could help you out.
