Newly dxed

by KarenSS, Nov 05, 2009 08:18PM
I am 27 yrs old, with no children.  I have been having left pelvic pain during menstruation and intercourse. I have regular monthly periods, with very heavy bleeding.  I went for a transvagial US which showed a 11cm cyst on my left ovary as well as a 5cm cyst on my right ovary.  At first my Dr thought it was a dermoid cyst.   After a CT scan he believes they are endemetriomias.  I was informed that I would have to have them both removed.  My Dr said there is no chance in saving my left ovary, and a 50/50 chance on saving part of or the whole right ovary.

My husband and I would like to have children.  Removing 1 or both ovaries seems so radical considering we haven't even began trying to get pregnant.

What has been your experience with larger cysts? Based on the CT scan findings he assumes I have stage III
