Period after lap?

So I posted a few days ago about post-op pain. I'm also curious to know if anyone has had any experience with surgery screwing up their cycle. My last period was August 18th, I've felt like I'm about to get my period a few times and nothing happens. I had light spotting immediately following the surgery (that day and day after), which I remember having after my previous surgeries. I'm debating between waiting it out and going and getting a pregnancy test-although I highly doubt I'm pregnant. Anyone have similar experiences?

6 weeks post op & still no period. Tomorrow I will call AGAIN to the doctor. Better not hear the same song & dance that it will happen this week!

Hi there.  I had a lap (bikini incision) last December to get removed a cyst, which turned out to be an endometrioma and the doctor was able to preserve my ovary and all my reproductive organs. Ten days later my period started and I was placed on Lupron, the 3-month shot and my period stopped.  Five months later I got my period, heavier than normally and have had two other periods.  Got checked a few days ago and there is no sign of endometriosis or a cyst forming.

As far as I know, your body will react and can go back to its normal cycles.  I haven't been given any hormones or any medicine to get my periods back, and I think it has turned out for the best.  Talk to your doctor and see what options you have.

Best wishes,

Neta

Kate,

I had my lap done on 8/25.  My last period was just before the surgery on 8/10.  I'll be six weeks post op and have not had a period since. I have called my doctor every week it hasn't happened and she keeps telling me the same thing...it will happen.  I'm beginning to doubt her.  I don't know what else to do.  I just want to make sure my ovaries weren't knocked out of commission.  Before they surgery they were adhered to everything. The surgeon released them so they are in their anatomically correct position now.  I'm at a loss for what to do.  Doctor wants to start Lupron but I want to make sure my ovaries are functioning first.

Mine never changed and I had open abdominal surgery.  This confuses even me.

I had a lap done in August around day 11 of my cycle.  Had spotting the first day or so after the surgery then got my period on day 25.  My cycles are usually 28-31 days, however, that particular month I did not chart due to the surgery.  You didn't mention whether or not you have regular cycles so I'm not sure if you should test or not.  I have very regular cycles so I did not test right after my surgery as my period started sooner than it normally would.
