Post laproscopy

by Loulou2205, Oct 23, 2009 11:44AM
I'm after a bit of advice
I had a laproscopy in July which confirmed endometriosis. The doc said he got it all out. But since my operation the pain is still there as usual, when I asked him for an explanation he said it's the inflammtory process and usually takes couple of months to calm down and fir me to feel and benefit!
Is this true??

Hi,

Maybe I can be of some assistance.  Endometriosis keeps growing, so if he got it all out it could very well be that he got all that was there at the time.  I also had a surgery in July and will be having another one.  Remember this, it always comes back.

I also had laparoscopy in September & I have had pain since the surgery. The pain has not been as sharp, but is still there. My dr told me that if I don't start taking Lupron or get pregnant within the next year, it will come back. I had a very severe case. She said she got most of it, but there is still some left because it was too dangerous to try & remove. So DH & I are TTC, but need to seek fertility options.

I have had 4 laps and none of them have helped with the pain management much.  The Lupron has been the only thing that really helped me with the pain but everyone is different and what works for one will not work for the other.  That is what is so frustrating about this disease.  If you are not comfortable with your doctor's explanation maybe seeking out a specialist will be of help.  Are you trying to conceive?  My thoughts are with you

I had a laproscopy on 10/26.  He removed my left ovary and endo and adhesions.  My first ovulation was just as bad as before and I am dreading my first period.  I also am having diarrhea.  I started having it about a month before surgery, then right after surgery it got better for about a week, now its back.  This is really unusal for me because I am usually constipated.  I am really getting discouraged because I thought I would have instant relief.

Unfortunately, the endo does come back.  My experience has been that the pain usually comes back soon after laporoscopy, slight at first but buidling with intensity each menstrual cycle.  Even if the doctor has removed all of the endometrial tissue, it grows back.  For that reason, I have had laporoscopies only twice and have been treated medically in-between with a drug identical to lupron, only it's taken on a daily basis and by cycling the birth control pills.
