Remove Left Ovary to help Endo Pain?

For the past three years I have had pain on my left side, comparable to severe menstrual cramps. I have had two lap surgeries. The second was to remove the endo. My doctor found a large object near my left ovary. It may have been endo that created a shell or a fibroid, I was never really told a definate answer as to what it was. I have been on Lupron for 6 months now and I am still in pain. I had a test and it showed that the Lupron was not shutting me down hormonally like it should be. I have been spotting with intense pain and nothing seems to help. My doctor said the only next step would be to remove the left ovary. I do have the surgery schedule next month, but I am terrified. I am looking for some advice. I know I want to go and get a second opinion. I also am nervous because the ovary looks normal in the photos from the surgeries and ultrasounds. I wish I could get a guarantee that the right ovary will work because I do want to have children. I am 27 years old. Anyone has some advice or heard of removal of an ovary due to endometriosis?

Can relate to the pain in the ovary and spotting,I had endo in fallopian tube and endometrioma in the ovary plus adhesions.

Without them doing a lap they may not be able to tell what is causing your pain. It could even by from adhesions or an endometrioma, they don't always show up in scans. Both of these can be fixed without removing your ovary.

I would say talk to your dr. about  your concerns though.

Even though you have problems with the left ovary it also doesn't mean that the right ovary isnt perfectly fine. You can still have children with one ovary that is functioning.

And if the pain you are feeling is severe it may be that the left ovary isn't functioning correctly anyway, and if it is leaking fluid from a cyst this can be toxic to any pregnancy . So to me it would be better to remove it if it is needed. It may even improve your conception chances.

But it is best if you talk this over with your doctor.
