Still nauseous after laparoscopy

I had it on Friday.  It is now Tuesday and I still feel nauseous.  I am able to eat but just have a general feeling of nausea, almost like being carsick, all the time.  I haven't vomited but woke up two nights in a row in the middle of the night feeling as if I was going to be sick.  I called my doctor and am awaiting a call back.  The nurse said "maybe it's a stomach flu" but it doesn't seem that way.  Can anyone relate? Is this normal?

The nausea comes from the anaesthetic you have to try to recovery and not rush it. When did you have your surgery?.

It's better than before.  I took Prilosec for about a week but stopped taking it.  (I shouldn't have stopped).  I still feel nauseous here and there, though.  My DI doc gave me samples of some other medication similar to Prilosec that I will begin soon.

I had my first lap yesterday.  In order to go home, I had to eat some crackers, but I just couldn't.  My mouth was so dry, it literally tasted like sawdust and kept getting caught in my teeth and throat.  So, the nurses made me eat a banana, which tasted horrible and made me pretty sick, but I managed to slowly swallow all the pieces without chewing and keep it down.  As soon as I got home, the nausea got worse.  I had to really try hard not to vomit, but I took more oxycodone and slept it off.  We found out later the doc had prescribed an anti-emetic, but both the nurses and pharmacy forgot to tell us.  Hubbbie ran out last night and got the script "just in case" but so far, I haven't needed it.  Woke up without much appetite, took more oxycodone, Gax-x, and a fiber pill and went back to sleep.  Had some oatmeal about an hour ago.  So far so good. My stomach feels a little unresponsive.  Still not very hungry.  I had to force the oatmeal down, but at least it didn't come back up, and things are tasting better today.

How is it now?

Doc said it's most likely due to GI issues such as heartburn, possibly from the high dose ibuprofen irritating the lining of the stomach and esophagus. He told me to take Prilosec tablets once a day and a liquid antacid for two weeks. I have intermittent nausea but it appears to be improving since last week.

It could be a variety of things such as the flu. Sometimes the gas can cause that general nauseated feeling and usually takes about a week to work it's way out. Hat I would do is have someone pick you up some gravol, mints and ginger tea this should help.
