Will Loestrin 24 help with my Endometriosis pain?

Does anyone know if Loestrin 24 is effective for Endometriosis pain? I have constant pelvic and vaginal pain 24/7 and its HORRIBLE during my periods that I can't even get out of bed usually. My old gyno put me on YAZ continuously (with no sugar pills) for 4 months straight with no periods to see if the pain would calm down and id didn't and YAZ made me very swollen. I am hesitant to even try this because I have gained over 25lbs the past 1 1/2 yrs, from when the pain started and I got sick from this all. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks-Tamara

I am not sure that birth control will really help with endo pain.  I know that it will slow down the growth of the endometriosis though.  As far as pain relief, I have heard that ice or heat packs help along with anti-inflamitories.  If those don't seem to help talk to your doctor again.  They may be able to prescribe you something OR, I know where I am from they have physical therapy that can also help with Endo pain.  Maybe you could look into something like that.  Best of luck to you, I hope that you find something that works!  Keep me posted.

My GYN's (multiple) have always thought birth control was so wonderous at helping pain and slowing the growth...well, it never worked for me...When was your last lap? Try taking the anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen, advil, aleve). See if any of that helps. If not, make another appt with your doctor and talk with him/her about your pain. Or you may consider getting a second opinion if you're not happy with your current doctor. Good luck!

I was on Loestrin 24 for 5 years. It does help I did not have any problems with it at all. I just received my diagnosis of endmetriosis in August.  I actually had to change pills because I started not getting my periods bc I had been on it so long.  I did not gain any weight and did not have any bloating with the pill.  I loved it.  I was put on the pill at 16 due to severe menstrual cramping.  I def. recommend that pill.

I'm not sure if this helps but I had severe pain and hemorraging with every menstrual cycle from age 9 to 27 and the ONLY thing that helped me was going on birth control pills. No more pain. No more hemorraging. And now I have a beautiful son (conceived with a little help). I'm 39 now and I don't miss those days (I can honeslty say that labor and cramps felt exactly the same difference).

I've been on the ortho series until I was 32 and the Loestrin (24 and 28) up until my pregnancy and continued it after pregnancy. Both made a big difference. Only now am I feeling more 'inflammatory' like pain. But they said I definately have adhesions (ovary wrapped behind my uterus). I possibly might begin menopause (hot flashes). But all I can say is that birth control pills definately gave me a life.

I would try them. Never been on Yaz. You can always get off of them.
