endo surgery q's

Hey guys, its late, i'm tired and stuff... anyhow; i have surgery to remove the endo on tuesday!  they were able to get me in fast because of how bad things are.. they are going to remove the endo, some polyps (that my other dr did not see but my new specialist did!! yay!) clear my tubes, put in an iud, and i think i'm going to participate in a study where i might get a gel put on that might help prevent some reformation of other growths he's going to remove as well!
I'm terrified... never had surgery... i'm eager to get it done but so excited to get better and live normal again.  it will be done lapryscopically (which i can't spell at all...).  I guess three cuts at my hairline and one at my belly button.
anyone had this done?  how have you done with recovery?  advice?  what did you need to get through recovery?  tips?  also, tips on the magnesium citrate pre-op?

Hi. I had two laps this year. although it may not sound as simple as it actually is, I don't mean to sound like is nothing, because it IS something, just that once you get it done and probably two days after, you will think that it wasn't a big deal after all the worries.

After two days you will start to feel more like yourself. is like you said, three incisions, well most of the time, it all depends on your doc and what he needs to do, but I say that about 90% of the time is three incison and most of the time you won't even need any stiches, on my last LAP I only got one insicion with a samll stich.

as far as recovery, well it vary from person to person....but from what I have read, shoulder pain is one common side effect during the recovery time. this is due to the gas the doc uses to inflate your stomach with, this pain in the shoulder for me it wasn't that bad, just bothersome and with some massage from DH it would get better. I was walking around like nothing and back to work a week after the lap on both times. by this time I just had some soreness around the incisions but well managable, I was even able to sleep on my stomach....I didn't take any pain meds, just the one pain meds the nurses gave me while I was on the recovery room. You do wake up feeling pain, but I say, as soon as you feel something waking up from the surgery, ask for pain meds and then you will feel fine. be sure to REST and not do anything for the 2 days after the surgery...after this two days you will most likely start feeling normal again.

about the magnesium citrate, I am not sure what that is for...all I had to do pre-op was the over the counter enema, which wasn't a big deal after all.

Just let me know if you need any other info. Good luck to you on Tuesday.

BTW I did to get that gel in, not sure if worked or not, but I know he put on some of that on me.

I go in for surgery tomorrow am..  can't wait to be done.  I am relieved to hear your recovery story.  very encouraging and will make me think twice before just assuming i will feel terribly terribly bad afterward.  I know it varies but you never know and i'd normally be one to assume the worst so maybe i can readjust my thinking!!
thank you!!
