endometriosis helppp

Hello :)
Last monday - 31st of oct i had a laparoscopy where they found mild endometriosis patches on both ovaries and under my womb and removed it.
Im only 17 is it normal to be diagnosed so young? bit worried that everywhere im reading its said to mainly affect people over the age of 25 :/
Im also worried that alot of websites say it causes big problems with fertility ?
im really confused! any advice would be appreciated :) x

Hang in there - it's good that you have been diagnosed.  I have had pain all my life and wasn't diagnosed until I was 25.  I was blessed with 2 precious babies.  The first one did take some time but they are here and healthy.  Praise God!  I hope you have been recovering well.  It's good you know so you can treat it.  I had a laproscopy right before I got married.  You might want to consider doing that when that time comes.  It kinda cleans out your patches and makes it a bit easier to conceive.  Best wishes and God bless you hon.

I agree, the younger you are with diagnosis, the better, hopefully you can have treatement, or at least be monitored.  I have had issues since I was 15-16 yrs old.  The good news is, that even though I had 8 yrs of infertility, I have 3 biological children, and one adopted child.  Have no fear.  You can be a mother regardless, it is equally rewarding and fullfilling.

No, your not alone! I am 19, and I was diagnosed last year and used to feel like I was the only adolescent with it!  They do say its less common to have it and be diagnosed in teen years, but that its beneficial to know sooner rather than later to monitor it and preserve fertility and the organs in there and such.  It's great that you caught it at the mild stage, so hopefully you can prevent it from getting worse at least until you want to have babies.  Just out of curiousity, was your endo considered atypical?  Because that what they found in me and they said that this more unusual form of endo is usually only found in teens when they are diagnosed, so I'm just curious because I had never heard of it until they told me that lol.

Are you on the pill?  It's a good idea to be if your not because it can help surpress endo to keep it from coming back.  As far as advice, while I'm not necessarily the best candidate for advice giving, I can say, being in a similar situation as you, to just be conscious about it.  Pay attention to your body, especially if you feel like symptoms are returning at any point.  And just make sure you have a really good doctor and are doing something to prevent it from returnin

How has your recovery from laparoscopy been?  Our twelve yr old had it on January 30, 2012 for endometriosis and has had severe rt side abdominal pains ever since.  She can't t function for evev one full day at school and is getting pretty frustrated.  She is a very active athlete and super physically fit, so you can imagine how she feels.

Just wondered if it is taking such a long time due to her age, so I thought asking some young endo sufferers might be worth it.

Hope your recoveries are going better than hers...I think you are all too young to have to go through this!
