just diagnosed with stage 4

by lucy890, Nov 08, 2009 08:29AM
Hi. I am 18 years old and have just been diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis after having a laparotomy to remove 3 large endometriomas from my ovaries.  I hadn't really had any symptoms until a couple of weeks ago when i collapsed from stomach pain and went to the emergency room thinking it was appendicitis.  My doctor now wants me to go on zoladex for 6 months. Does anyone have experience of this? I have researched it online and am really not keen on having it at all and would like to avoid it.  I was thinking of asking to go on the pill instead.  I would really appreciate any advice anyone cold give me about endometriosis in general.  I am really devestated after reafing about the effect on fertility. I have always wanted a large family and now it seems like that will never happen.  Thanks in advance for any comments.

Don't let your doctor give you any treatment that you aren't comfortable with. If you don't want to take your suggestions you don't have to. Your health is very important, but you know your body better than anyone. You know what you can and cannot handle.
