laps & endometriosis

Hello, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis finally in 2002.  I had all of the symptoms since I was 16 but had to go through many different doctors before finally finding one that confirmed it.  I had a lap that onfirmed the diagnosis in 2002.  My bowels were attached to my ovary and there was a lot of other adhesions, the surgery lasted 4 hours.  I had to have another lap in 2005 due to chronic pain.  The adhesions were not as bad this time.  I became pregnant in 2006, I delivered in jan 2007 via c-section.  I did not have any pain after the delivery until about 2 weeks ago.  My right ovary is very sensitive. I have a constant pain in my right pelvic area.  I went to my doc, who thought it might have something to do with my IUD.  He gave me antibiotics and had me scheduled for a ultrasound.  I had to call him back 3 days after starting the antibiotics, because I started bleeding.  It would go for a few hours then stop.  I went back yesterday for a visit, I told him I knew it wasnt the IUD, he agreed. He has cancelled my ultrasound and scheduled me for another lap on monday.  My question is, have any of you had to have repeated laps without any other testing being done?

That is kind of quick of him to do that.  I am not sure if i would be happy or a little taken back by how fast he is doing it.  I guess if you had the endo before it most likely has grown since after your child because that is what it did to me. I was worse off after having my daughter.  If it was me, i would go and wouldnt hesitate, that is only because it took so long to figure out what was wrong with me and now i am so intuned to my body i know exactly what it is. If you arent ready tell him to do other tests before but you should know because you have endo the only way to see if it has grown is to do that lap.

best of luck, let me know what happens

Angela is right, you gave birth just over a year ago so it may be that it's just been recently that your hormones have gotten back to the levels that they were pre-baby.  Did you breastfeed?  We know that breastfeeding will keep the periods at bay, so it makes sense that it also has an effect on your estrogen levels.  Yeah, it does seem quick, but once an endo sufferer, always an endo sufferer.  I'm like Angela I know exactly what's going on in my body, too.  I've been dealing with this **** for years so I know what to expect and basically how to deal with it.  The pain in the ovary may be a cyst or endometrioma, either of which is treatable...but only with surgery.  Talk to your doc and do what's right for you, but remember, pain is never normal.  Good luck and keep us posted.
