What exactly is endometriosis and how is it diagnosed? Also what does it mean when the endometrium has thickened?

It is a disease where the endometrial cells that are inside the uterus, grow on any surface outside the uterus and react the exact same way during your menstrual cycle, so they swell and bleed.  This causes pain and scar tissue to develop on those areas and can be quite miserable.  The ONLY way it is diagnosed is during a laprascopy, doctors may suspect that you have it, but they cannot confirm until they have seen it on the scope.  They will laser off any cells they see when doing this, but cannot always get it all (as in my case.)  Hope this helps.
