Changing from Dilantin to Ruffinamide

We are considering changing our son's seizure medication from Dilantin to Ruffinamide.
The main reason for the change is the severe gum overgrowth that it has caused. He has had his gums cut back and they have regrown in a year. This is causing tooth decay and he has become very self-conscious about the appearance of his gums and teeth.
Specifically, do you have any feedback on the side-effects of Ruffinamide? I have seen them listed and the are fewer and less severe than Dilantin. What has been your experience?
