Cortical Dysplasia & Tremors

Hello to everyone, I am new to this...I have never communicated in a forum before.  My 8 year old son had his first seizure on his 4th birthday.  He was diagnosed with partial complex seizures (they told us that he had the worst EEG they had ever seen) and with cortical dysplasia by MRI a few days later.  He soon developed allergic reactions to both Dilantin and Trileptal.  He has been on Depakote for 4 years and recently we added Keppra in September.  He has many behavorial outburst, irritability, and is immature for his age.  He also had quite a few developmental delays as he has repeated 1st grade and continues to be unable to grasps some concepts such as phonics, addition, subtraction, etc.  The reason I am writing is that over the last year, my son has had a tremor in his left arm, this tremor has progressively gotten worse to the point that the school is trying to have him wear an arm weight to help stop the tremors.  He is unable to use his left hand for many fine motor things and he says "can't you just fix my arm."  We saw the neurologist today and he is concerned about a possible tumor or cyst so he has ordered another MRI and wants us to go to Barnes to the pediatric neurology departmen there.  My question is:  1.  Has anyone had this experience with tremors and cortical dysplasia (we know it is not the medication and 2.  Does anyone have experience with Barnes pediatric neurology department.  Any information is really appreciated.

Hi MomtoBrady,

I take anti-seizure meds and have been on several different ones, however, dilantin worked well for me. But they did have me on Keppra and I was very irritable on it.  I even had nightmares.  I am currently on trileptal and only have a little dizziness.  I have also been on neurontin (common anti-seizure med), lamictal, and tegretol.  I am 26. Good luck to you and Brady.
