How can we be sure it is Epilepsy?

My husband was diagnosed with Epilepsy 20 years ago in Mexico, after suffering from a form of seizure where he was unable to control the movements of his arms for a few minutes before he blacked out. He only has one other memory of a similar event happening to him when he was a boy. They never gave him any neurological tests and he has not had another seizure since. When he came to the US around ten years ago he began seeing a Neurologist that kept him on his medication. The doctor gave him a test but did not tell him that he had to stay awake the entire night before. My husband let him know he slept but the doctor still gave him the test. He has not had any other seizures and we are not sure if he has epilepsy or if it could have been a mistake. We have tried to see another neurologist but our doctor is unwilling to send him to one. He suggests that he stop taking his medication and if he gets a seizure then he will give him a recomendation. Please help us with your suggestions. Thank you.

I was told i had epilepsy over 20 years ago now i hav been taken of the med for 2 months and im still fine, this is all they can do 2 c if u still have it. If so they will put u back on yr med wat was he taking 4 it i was told that i was not epileptic and shud not of been on these meds
