Myclonic epilepsy and white spots on brain

Hi there,
I am a 35 year old Mum of 3 small children. I suffer from myclonic epilepsy and am currently taking Lamictal. I still have jerking in the mornings especially if tired but lamictal is apparantly a safer drug option if considering pregnancy.
Last year I had a brain scan where they discovered a few white spots on the brain, just wondering what causes these. Could it be the migraines that I suffered as a child and well into my late 20's? Does myclonic epilepsy get worse as one gets older? I do have brain scan xray pics.
Thank you
Thanks

the white spots could be what's actually causing your myoclonic epilepsy. one thing that i know that would cause white spots would be multiple sclerosis, can't think of anything else though.
i'm also on lamictal. it's the most effective out of all that i've tried so far even though i still get some jerks when i lie down. maybe ask your doctor about keppra to see if that will work a bit better, i know it also is one of the safer options if considering pregnancy.
as for it getting worse as you get older, to my knowledge age doesn't affect it otherwise i would be super old now. i've been having the jerks for almost a year and a half now and the meds work for a month or two then the jerks just come back, so i don't think it's really age related, at least it isn't in my case. you ask your neuro about all these things though
take care
