Night seizures - help!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this but wonder if I could have some advice. 8 years ago my husband took Zyban to help stop smoking. 2 weeks into this he had a fit in his sleep, rigid, very slurred speech and no memory of this in the morning. He stopped taking the tablets but had 2 more fits over the coming year. He then didnt have any more fits for 7 years but they started again this January. He has them every 7 weeks, the first time he just had one in his sleep, then 2 eight weeks later, 5 the next time (an ambulance was called and he spent 2 days in hospital) then once again when he smashed his eyesocket open. They always happen during the night or just when waking, always no memory. After having a MRI the consultant said he has a small lesion on his brain caused by a mini stroke he had a some time, which we didnt know anything about. He said not to worry! Said he wasnt epileptic and to take no tablets. He also put it down to alcohol being drunk every night.
We are having a second opinion at a different hospital in a couple of weeks.
Has anyone any advice to help or anyone taken Zyban and the same thing happened which could be causing lasting effects?
