Occipital Focal Seizures

Our son who is now 10 years old was born with occipital focal seizures in the left occipital. He was on just about every seizure med at the time on increasing doasges and nothing seemed to work so against doc advice we ceased all meds. He still has the same amount he did at birth. Since he is older he tends to look to the right with his head in order to see straight. He says he is trying to stop the seizure from coming. He is getting more and more behind in school and I am wondering if we should put him back on meds. Has anyone experienced this?
