Seizers and my mom

My mother has suffered from seizers for the past maybe 20 years or so. In the past they didnt happen very often, and they have gotten worse within the past 5 or 6 years. She would go from having 1 maybe every few months to having 9 in one night. Just recently she had 12 in a 24 hour period. she has been to the emergency room numerous times but the ekg and ct scans come back normal. I just dont understand why my mother is having these seizers. she is currently on a medication called carbomazapine, not sure if i spelled that right. Isnt seizer medicine supposed to prevent them from having seizers? i guess my questions is why cant they find a cause for her seizers and what kind of doctors should she be seeing? she doesnt have a lot of money and i dont think she has insurance anymore. is there any help out there that we could get so we can get her seizers figured out?

I am sorry your mom is going threw this and your family.

Your mom should be seeing a Neurologist Doctor for the Seizures,They should do a sleep deprived EEG and also run some blood test on your mom.

Seizures can be brought on my may different things,the one big thing is stress and anxiety.

Not all seizures can be stopped by medicine's ,and they can't always tell why some people are having Seizures .There for it is very hard on everyone.And they have to try different medicines to see what works best for each person.

My son is on 6 medicines twice s day , due to his Seizures and even had what they call the VNS put in this last June,and he still has seizures,because he has seizures that are not under control and has more than one kind of seizures.And yes it is very scary not only because of the seizures but also the side effects of all the medicines he is on and others we have tried,

As for her not having the money to pay for a Doctor and all the test, you should see if she can get help, where she lives with medical bills.Like Medicare or low cost health Insurance .Most states have these you just have to do the hard work  of finding where to get it from and the paper work and ever thing they need to do it and try and get it for her.

The other thing I have done is put my son on Vitamin B6 and Omega 3-6-9  after making sure that it was OK to take with all his other medicines. It is more pills for him to take but it has helped him learn better and calm down some.And one of his pills is for blood pressure to try and help him with stress and anxiety,even thou it blood pressure is normal ,just need to make sure it doesn't go to low.
