Toddler seizures

My daughter - now almost 27 months old- experienced epileptic seizures 3 times at the age of 9 months old. She was on "depakine" medication at the beginning and then we slowly took her off it by the age to 14 months old. Two EEGs and an MRI showed nothing at the age of 11 months. Since getting off the medicine she has been experiencing frequent (3-4 times a week) what I would describe as"absence seizures". She momentarily (5-10 secs) stares into space, with a faint smile and seems to be less able to stand on her feet (but never falls). Following this she will yawn and start whining asking for "mommy". sometimes she will ask for mommy during the "staring". We do give her homeopathic medicine which seems to help and prolongs the time between the "seizures". She seems to have them less and less as she grows older and they become less severe.
Is this a typical absence seizure? Does it occur often in toddlers? Is there a chance she will grow out of it? could it be the result of something in her diet (metabolic reasons?)? THank you
