What happens if a seizure patient goes to the ER?

I am working on a book where one of my characters (the main character's mom) has epilepsy.  Angie goes to the ER because she has a life-threatening seizure.  Her daughter Ella shows up soon after she arrives. I was wondering what would happen when she comes in unconscious. What would they tell Ella?  Would she immediately be able to see her mom or have to wait?  How long would they keep Angie in the ER?

I would appreciate any ideas.  Thanks so much!

The first thing that would happen would be to get the seizure stopped if it had not been already. A seizure that goes on for a long period of time with out stopping can cause more brain issues. The doctor's would tell her what happened and her current condition. If there are still alot of doctor's and nurse's working on her, she would be kept away so they would have room to get the situation undercontrol. Otherwise she would be able to go back and see her right away. If she wakens and there is not physical injuries, she might be released the same day, but since she came in unconscious they would most likely keep her over night. Of course if the seizure caused other injuries the stay in the hospital would be dependent on that. Hope that helps. The longest I have ever been kept was a couple of hours.
