rate of absorbtion of tegretol into bloodstream

Hi,
I had a blood test the other day for my tegretol levels. It came back being quite a lot over the therapeutic level. However, I was unaware I was to have a test that day so I had taken my dose that morning and had the test a couple of hours later. Could this be the reason the levels were high? How long exactly does it take a dose to be absorbed into the bloodstream? My GP has now decided to reduce my dose and I am worried that the level may have been high because i had taken a dose a couple of hours before? Is this possible?

that probably would be the cause. did u tell your doc you took your dosage? i take the same meds and i know you cannot take your morning pill. im not sure tho, have never had that problem. i wouldnt be worried about it, if you are really concerned discuss it with your doc...all i can say, sorry
