T3 REVERSE -- "The mix of treatments needed varies from patient to patient. There are some abnormalities that are common. For instance, close to 100% of individuals with these syndromes have low thyroid. This is, however, usually not picked up on the standard blood tests because the TSH is not elevated in these individuals due to pituitary dysfunction. Many of these individuals will also have high levels of the anti-thyroid reverse T3, which is usually not measured on standard blood tests. In addition, the majority of individuals can also have a thyroid receptor resistance that is not detected on the blood tests. Consequently, thyroid treatment, especially with timed release T3, is effective for many patients. T4 preparations (inactive thyroid) such as Synthroid and Levoxyl do not work well for these conditions."

According to CFS/Fibro expert, Dr. Kent Holtorf, the reason why so many fibro & CFS patients have thyroid problems is due to pituitary dysfunction.
About 18 years ago, I had Lymphocytic Thyroiditis . . . . Then 5 years ago, after having Hashimoto's disease, a needle biopsy that looked suspicious, and my thyroid being ridden with scar tissue, I had my thyroid removed. There was no cancer, just lots of scar tissue.
Every year during winter, I feel sick for months, like I'm going to get the flu, achy and very tired, but no other symptoms, I don't get fevers, never really have, but I do have lots of hot and cold flashes.
The doctor said the test shows there's evidence of EBV. But he also said there's not much that can be done about the virus.
I'm interested in the possible connection of the thyroid and EBV.
Peace,
Karen Fay
Yes, that would be wonderful if you would send me some links. At this point in time I need all the help I can get. I have had such a hard time even getting diagnosed. I am getting closer, I hope and pray.
Thanks for your help.
Mary
I also believe that virus attacked your thyroid. In fact, an estimated 90% of people with CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome) have thyroid problems. However, normally in cases with CFS... the standard thyroid tests (TSH & T3) fail to pick this up.
If you have symptoms for over 6 months, please talk to your physician about CFIDS. (CDC) Also, right now there are things you can do to help fight this. If you would me to send you some links, let me know.
Thanks Chris, I left you a post on the other site. I hope they figure it out too.
I personally believe the Dr's these days just want a check from the insurance companies I have been dealing with this for three years now with no real answers yet just allot of testing I hope they figure it out for you
