Do I have mono or something else?

I have been suffering with severe fatique, aches, and nausea.  Feels like I am running a fever, but I am not.  Have no energy.  Had a test completed and my IgG came in at 1.7, my IgM came in at .90 and my NA IgG came in at >4.00.  My doctor said I do not have accute mono because my igM was low but had it sometime in the past.  Could I have lingering symptoms, I was really sick about about 6 weeks earlier.  I wish I could have a better diagnosis.  I don't remember ever being this tired.

Did your doctor also do baseline tests for other causes for fatigue? Other infections (CMV, HIV, Lyme, etc...) as well as baseline tests for cancer and autoimmune disease (i.e. CBC, ESR, CRP, peripheral blood smear, LDH, Uric Acid, Chemistry Panel)? I think that would be important before assuming it's mono.

there is no test for cfs.. its a diagnosis of elimination.. ebv, hhv6, mycoplasma and cmv can all play a part in the development of cfs, or you could have chronic illness like me. have you checked for everything else?

It looks like your doctor was right about having mono in the past, but it still sounds like EBV re-activation to me.  How long have you been dealing with this?  CFS tests usually aren't run until someone has been dealing with significant symptoms for at least 6 months.  That seems kind of crazy, sometimes EBV can take several months (or even years) to get over.

Hello,

Thank you for getting back with me. Here are the normal ranges:

IgG  <= .9
IgM <=.9
NA IgG <=.9

Thank you so much for your help!

Hello, do you have refence numbers from your test?  In other words, a "normal" range.  I'm asking because not all tests are the same.  Anyway, given that you had acute EBV at some time in the past, you're most likely going through a relapse (also called re-activation) now.  It has basically all the same symptoms as acute mono, which sounds pretty much like what you're currently experiencing.

How convinced was your doctor?  It's too bad he sent you away without a diagnosis..What did he recommend you do?  Did he not seemed very concerned?
