Dr called last night

I was told that my EBV titers were high on 11-11-08. Since that time, my neuro told me that he wanted me to start taking Astragalus, which is a natural immunity booster. The physician called me last night and wanted to make sure that I started on the medication. I went to see him on Tuesday and was told that my Vitamin D levels were very low. He placed me on 50000 iu of Vitamin D  and asked that I increase the amount of Cod Liver oil that I take a on daily basis in order to decrease the possibility of constipation. I keep asking him about the possibility of MS and he keeps dismissing the idea. I can't help but be concerned about this because the symptoms are all sensory neurological symptoms. Now that I have been told about a "normal sleep study and EMG test", I am really concerned. I feel like all I think about is the possibility of having MS. I really don't like living like this at all. Just one of those days!

You could have MANY MS symptoms and yet not have MS. I know, as I am one of those people who do. I could be wrong, but I think it was Dr. Nicolson who mentioned that there is a fine line between MS and fibromyalgia.

Ok Plateletgal,

I am going to call the 2 rheumys that you referred to me earlier this week. If they try to give me a hard time about a referral, I am just going to go to a rheumy that is about 1 hour away. At this point, I have nothing to lose. I wanted to ask about an LLMD in Georgia. I tried to go to lymenet, but the search was just too complicated. By the time I figured out how to do it, I was told that I had maxed all of my chances in terms of searching....WHat a BOMBER! The doctors that they were giving me were in places like Florida and Tennessee. There has got to be a lyme literate doctor in Georgia. How do I find one?

Thanks,
Regina

Hi Gina,

Is that from the Co-Cure.org website ? I can't make any promises, but I can tell you that the fibro & CFS communities seem to know who the GOOD physicians are. The good news is... these physicians usually will rule out lyme disease, so please talk to the rheumatologist about that.

BEST OF LUCK !!! Keep in touch !

Yes, those 2 rheumys were from that list of doctors. I certainly hope that they will run all of the tests for lyme disease. I will call their offices tomorrow and go from there.

My guess is that they frequently diagnose and treat CFS... that they will know which tests to rule out first (lyme included).

Let me know what happens and good luck !

btw... lyme testing is tricky. Often a person who has lyme disease will test negative. This is the best lab and lab... not sure if your insurance will cover the testing though:

Lyme Borrelia Test (CPT: 86617)—Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme Disease) by Western Blot analysis.

Recommended Lab: IGeneX Laboratories of Palo Alto, CA (http://www.igenex.com/).
