yes, what i really cannot understand i why the EBNA igG after 4,5 months were weakly positive and then after 9 months became negative...
it is so strange....
the main symptom was lymphadenopathy... starting after one months from sexual risk... for almost one year
and i had many times in the year flue.... sometimes with fever
also after 5 months from sexual risk i had a strong fever for 10 days... and then i had sore throat for about 3 months...
after first time i tested for EBV i was quite sure about new infection of EBV....
but when i saw EBNA IgG negative after 9 months...
i really dont understand....
hi alberto,
yes it possible to contract EBV through an unprotected exposure.
As you only tested 4.5 months post exposure, your igM will have already become undetectable by then (it is normally only detectable within 2-3 months of exposure). Therefore , your results dont really show if your exposure caused the infection , or if you were infected before.
its difficult to explain how suddenly your EBNA igG became undetectable, because as you said, normally once this is detectable, it remains so for life. I cant explain it, other than maybe the 2nd test was not done correctly, and you should do a re-test to check it .
what kind of symptoms did you have over the 1 year post exposure?
