Epstein Bar VIrus / Glandular Fever/ Mono Results - Please Help

HI,

After months of feeling tired, run down, dizzy, out of it with brain fog - I finally received these test results:-

Anti EBV Nuclear Antigen IgG (EBNA)   30.1
ANti EBV VCA IgG                               14.6
Anti EBV VCA IgM                               0.8

Please can anyone tell me - does this mean that I have EBV/ Glandular Fever or does it mean that I have had it in the past and that my symptoms now are post viral as I still feel totally dizzy and out of it?

Please help!!

Thanks, Romald..

Thanks again for your reply.  I know what you mean - I feel like my energy levels are low but at the same time I dont want to sleep more than usual.

The worst thing for me is the constant foggy head/ lightheade feeling - do you experience this?

Thanks again, Romald.

I initially contracted mono (sore throat w/sploches on tonsils, very high fever, but strangely no fatigue) in May of 2007.  I felt better after about a month and went back to my "normal" life (including workouts at the same intensity), and then I had a relapse a couple weeks later.  The relapse was less severe as far as I don't think I had any fever, and my throat wasn't too bad.  But the fatigue was more than I could believe!  It took me well over a year to really get back to feeling normal.  I had to cut out pretty much everything from my life (even work) for a while, and pretty much did nothing but rest.  The annoying thing was that I was tired, but couldn't really sleep more than normal; I just had no energy.  But, eventually I was able to get ahead of it.  I just did LOTS of rest (took vitamins, but don't know if that helped).  I'm still not at the same activity level I was before, but I'm trying to take things slowly.  So yes, it can take a while to get over it, but it can be done!

Hello!  Without ranges to compare your test values to, I can't say much about them; however, I'm assuming you've posted them because they are high.  With that said, it sounds like you're fighting an active infection.  This could be an initial infection (mono), or it could be a re-activation.  Either will have similar symptoms, and both are treated basically the same way.  Pretty much the only way to get over EBV is to get lots of rest.  You could also try eating healthier if possible, but the big thing is rest, and lots of it!
