I was diagnosed with EBV back in June. I have been experiencing pain and discomfort in my right side (flank) several times a day. Sometimes it feels as if ants are crawling under my skin - very tingly, similar to the feeling when a limb falls asleep. Sometimes it is accompanied with pressurePressure ulcer, like something wants to break out of my skin. Every once in awhile it is accompanied by severe pain. It usually lasts about a minute or so and then it releases.
"I have read that in some cases the liver and spleen can become swollen, which you would think could be a logical cause."
You are correct. When I had mono (that was the trigger for my CFS), I had an enlarged spleen and my physician told me not to participate in any sports, etc.
I too read that the liver, spleen and also appendix could become swollen with EBV. It might be liver but the spleen is on the left side whereas my discomfort is on the right. I will talk to my infectious disease doctor and see what it is. My liver showed up fine on my last CT scan, which was taken about a month ago. My internal medicine doctor thinks it could be nerve issues (pinched something) with my back - but I'm doubtful.
I'll post again if I hear something. Good luck!!!!!

Also... you can get hepatitis after having mono.
