How do I find a CFS specialist

How do I find a CFS specialist

Hi- I just found out that I have Chronic EBV and now I have found you all. I am so happy about that because I have been feeling so "in the dark" about this syndrome. So, I have been treated for low thyroid for years now with low dose of Levoxyl, but then all of a sudden it wasn't working anymore. I was so tired that I was falling aslepp on the ride home from work, going to bed as soon as I got home and feeling exhausted when I woke up the next morning. My kids were so upset because they didn't get to see me all day. This was taking over my life!!!

So, that's when I had some bloodwork done and she said I have a very bad case of EBV. Also my viatmin B12 was 180 and should be in the range of 250-1000. My estrogen also was low, and we already knew about the thyroid. All of my body functions were slowing down too, my BP was 100/60, I gained 15 lbs in 6 weeks, and my body temp was 97.7. No wonder I have been feeling so tired!!

So, although I only found out a few weeks ago, I am finding that taking viatmin C and B-12 very helpful! I am less sleepy. I do still feel exhausted at the end of the day, but I am going to bed earlier and trying to get 9-10 hours of sleep each day. On the weekends, I am trying not to plan any activities- not very easy with three kiddos!!!

I wouldl ove to find a specialist who can help me get back to felling normal again-whatever that is? How do I go about finding a specialist?

Hi ! I'm glad you found us. I also have CFS and from what you are telling me, it sounds like that is what you have.

MedHelp has a fibro / CFS board and I'm the Community Leader there. I hope that you will join us... here's the link:

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/44?personal_page_id=1064

On the health pages, I've listed popular treatment plans for CFS (don't let them tell you that there aren't any treatments... that isn't true).

As far as finding a physician in your area who knows about this illness, I would highly recommend googling, "Co-Cure's Good Doctor List". I know one other member on this board took my advice and found his physician on the website and he's happy with his physician.

Keep the positive attitude... that helps. And again, I hope I will see you posting in the fibro / CFS board. I've found that if you have CFS... it is VERY important to learn everything you can about this illness. There are many physicians who don't want to treat this condition and have no clue what this illness is and how serious it can be.

I concur with the Co-Cure Doctors List. I might be the member that PlateletGal mentions and I know I'm happy with the doctor I found off of that list. My doctor ended up showing some care and concern and has ran some simple tests that most common practitioners overlook.
