Mosquitoes Cause Reactivated EBV?????

So this may be a weird question but it is something that has been on my mind for a little while and thought I'd at least throw it out there for someone that might know. I won't get into all the details on my history (you can check out my post a little while back since it's kind of long if you haven't read it). Basically something kind of struck me the other day regarding the beginning of my reactivation of mono and relapse of my hypothyroidism symptoms.

Right around the time when I started feeling horribly again my husband I took a walk and went through some tall grasses. It was the middle of summer and I was in shorts and ankle socks so lots of leg exposed. I didn't even think about using mosquito repellant (I was very active running 4 miles a day at the time always outside since I LOVE to be outside and typically took a normal route just happened to decide to go a different way that day). Anyways when we got back home I noticed my legs itching like crazy and saw they were covered with mosquito bites. The whole west nile thing kind of scared me but I didn't think much more about it until the next day. My legs felt kind of funny all day but didn't know why. I was working full time tied to a desk for much of the day but when I lifted my pant legs I saw my ankles were swollen to literally twice their size! I figured it was because I had so many mosquito bites so took a benadryl and the swelling went down and eventually the mosquito bites went away.

The thing that I find strange though is that right after that time I noticed day after day at work that by the end of the day my ankles would be swollen in fact this still occurs if I don't keep my legs elevated. It was shortly after that all my hypothyroidism symtoms (gained 50 lbs in a few month on top of it all) as well as the EBV came back (although the EBV took 5 doctors a year and a half to figure out since they didn't test it at first... urgh). Anyway just wondering what this could mean? My body has been rejecting all thyroid medication no matter how high the dose or what type I take (remember I had been perfect on one medicine for 3 years so I shouldn't all of a sudden have it not work anymore and I don't have autoimmune thyroid disease). Is there something else my doctors might want to rule out that could have been caused by the mosquito bites?

I know this might sound strange but I feel there may be a connection there somewhere although I don't know how or why.

Well, I wonder if some of the meat and dairy products we consume have lyme bacteria...I am starting to get freaked out!

According to Dr. Jernigan's book, they've found the lyme bacteria in virtually every body fluid in cows, including whole blood, colostrum and fresh milk. Yikes !

Yes, mosquitos, fleas, and ticks can carry Lyme.  This was told to me by a friend who has an aunt who I believe is the president of some Lyme Disease Association. I had actually forgotten about this until I read your post.

Well said, ott.  I remember when Dr. OZ was on the Oprah Winfrey Show discussing ticks. He said that not only can ticks carry the lyme bacteria, but they also carry many viruses as well. And knowing that mosquitos can carry the West Nile Virus.... YIKES !

But there are treatments and some physicians now are really paying attention to the role that infections play in people who are chronically ill.

As you know, I also take Dr. Jernigan's Microbojen (targets viruses & bacterias)... along with the basic anti-neurotoxin. I highly recommend !

Obviously, mosquitos carry West Nile. I believe there is some evidence of mosquitos carrying Lyme, although everyone thinks it's just ticks. However, why wouldn't other blood-sucking insects by able to carry the Lyme bacteria if they bite an infected animal or person? As one Lyme book I'm reading states, do mosquitos, biting flies, and fleas have special Lyme filters that allows them not to carry Lyme? Probably not.

Mosquitos probably did not cause your EBV to flare up, but the mosquitos could have infected you with something else like West Nile or Lyme. Generally what happens is your new infection becomes your body's priority to fight and then the EBV flares up because the body is not making the EBV antibodies like it should. Consider that 90% of people have EBV. If it were an epidemic, then we would know it. That's not to say that EBV is not affecting some of us who have high titer values, myself included.

Microbojen works for me. Take it slow at first so you don't herx on it. Some people can handle only 5-10 drops, some a dropperful, and some 2-3 droppers. I am currently taking 3 droppers 3 times a day, but that is also what was prescribed to me by the maker of Microbojen (I just visited their clinic, the Hansa Center, in Wichita).

I also recommend that you consider purchasing their Neuro-Antitox II formulas. The Neuro formulas help remove toxins from your body that the Microbojen is killing. Ammonia is the body is a toxin that the Lyme bacteria creates and is what actually causes symptoms and not the actual bacteria. The Neuro formulas help reduce the ammonia in your system. A bottle of Molybdenum is also recommended to be taken with the Neuro formulas.

I also recommend Dr. Jernigan's book Beating Lyme Disease. A lot of interesting info about Lyme and chronic infections. The book includes detox protocols to assist in removing toxins from your body. Dr. Jernigan has treated thousands of patients and is very sincere in what he does.

Wow I guess there must be something to it since you had something similar. I think I read that mosquitos can carry lyme and it looks like a lot of your symptoms are similar to that but it sounds like you don't have a definite diagnosis. I don't have the neurological symptoms like a lot of EBV folks do which I can be grateful for but really feel for you with that as I have heard it's very difficult to deal with. Most of my symptoms are actually very similar to hypothyroidism which is how I reacted to my mono the first time as well- my doctor said that EBV reacts differently in different people and mine happens to prevent my body from absorbing thyroid meds so no matter how much I take it's like I'm taking nothing at all (except for heart palpitations if I take too much which unfortunately we did before we knew what was wrong- not fun!).

I've been reading a lot of informative info on here about people trying this stuff called microbojen (sp?) so I decided to order it and give it a try figured what the heck right? It's supposed to help with people dealing with baterial infections, EBV, lyme among other things.

I'm wondering if there is some explanation to this whole mosquito bite thing... maybe there is something they carried that did this to us? Hopefully someone here will know maybe where to start looking for answers. Did you speak with your doctor about the mosquito thing? I'm thinking I might bring it up at my next dr appt. and see what he says.

You pose a very good question that I have been wondering about as well. I have a ton of neurological sxs and a the only dx that I have is EBV, low vitamin D, and possible Graves/Lyme disease. I have no idea what is wrong with me. I need answers. You can look back on my posts if you desire because I am sure we share a ton of similar symptoms. I too had gotten bitten up by a bunch of mosquitos during the summer and then shortly after that is when I developed a rash, infection, and the list goes on. I wish there was someone who could answer that question for the both of us. The doctors don't have a clue.
