My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with mono (EBV) last May and at the time had severe symptoms, including terrible rash and extremely swollen spleen. She literally had no energy and slept as much as possible. This lasted for around 3-4 months and then symptoms improved. Then in November, she had a reactivation with many of the same symptoms, but no rash. After a couple of months, symptoms improved again. Now, she is having the same symptoms, plus occasional sore throat, head ache, joint pain. The doctor just ran numerous tests again and ruled out numerous things, including thyroid issues, rheumatology issues, etc.; however her tests results on the EBV came back as the following:
EBV AB VCA, IGM 39.3
EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG 11.1
EBV Ab VCA, IgG 211.0
EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG 361
I received these tests results through email on an app called MyChart, so I have not heard back from the doctor. Can someone please interpret these and let me know if it looks like a reactivation, AGAIN! I am thinking it does. If it is, can anyone give insight on why this keeps happening. Other than this mono, my daughter is an extremely healthy, and energetic now 17 year old. The doctor did mention if she does have another reactivation he is going to send her to an infectious disease doctor to see what can be done. Has anyone had any experience with this?
Thanks for any information!!
